Medical Abortions are offered for women less than 9 weeks pregnant. Medical abortions are completed through taking two sets of pills, Mifeprex and Misoprostol, which result in a miscarriage-like abortion. The first pill, Mifeprex, is taken in the medical office. 12-48 hours later, you'll take Misoprostol at home to complete your abortion. Surgical Abortions are offered for women up to 17 weeks pregnant. Surgical abortions are completed in our medical facility, and most are performed using a local anesthetic (which numbs the cervix) and twilight sedation (strong sedative administered through an IV). Though the procedure only lasts for several minutes, most patients can expect to be in the office for 3-5 hours. All visits to Hartford Summit Medical include lab work, counseling, ultrasound, physical exam, recovery room care, and follow-up exams. Follow-up exams are mandatory for all patients 2 to 3 weeks following their medical or surgical procedure, but do not require additional cost.

Cost, insurance and financial assistance: Most major CT insurance plans will cover all or some of the cost of your abortion. Low-income women may be eligible for financial assistance or state funding. For women with co-pays or paying out of pocket, the full cost of services is required before services are rendered; cash and most major credit cards are accepted. Please call for details.
