Abortion Clinic in Bridgeport, CT : Summit Women's Center - Patient Instructions

Summit Women's Center of Bridgeport has outlined the following instructions to help you prepare for your visit. Please visit the "Before Your Abortion" tab to your left for additional details about preparing for your abortion, and for information about what to expect when you arrive. We welcome you to call or stop by before your visit if you have questions or concerns about your appointment.

  • You must call to make an appointment. For confidentiality reasons, no one can make an appointment for you.
  • For morning appointments, do not eat, drink, chew or smoke after midnight the day of the procedure.
  • You (and anyone with you) must have a valid, non-expired ID to receive services.
  • Do not use drugs or alcohol for 48 hours prior to the procedure.
  • It is sometimes chilly in our facility; we recommend bringing a sweater or pair of socks.
  • Bring extra underwear, 2 or 3 sanitary pads.
  • Do not wear makeup or nail polish. Women who wear contact lenses or dentures must remove them prior to the procedure.
  • Do not wear jewelry, or bring valuables to the clinic.
  • If you are selecting twilight anesthesia, you must have a ride home. Your ride will need to come into the clinic (even if they are not staying) to sign a form stating they will return to pick you up.
  • You may bring only one guest only with you to the clinic (please, no children.)
  • If you are using insurance, bring your insurance card and picture ID (driver's license, passport or state-issued ID) with you.
 (ID must not be more than 5 years old and cannot be expired.)
  • No aspirin products (48 hours) prior to surgery.
